Are You a Canadian Writer?

cropped-10-logo-color2I have been a member of InScribe Christian Writer’s Fellowship for a few years now and last year had the opportunity to attend their yearly writing conference in Wetaskiwin, Alberta and meet face-to-face some wonderful authors, who I had conversed with for years online but never had the pleasure of meeting in person.  Best-selling and inspirational authors and writers who are called by God to write: Tracy Krauss, Marcia Laycock, Laura J. Davis, Violet Nesdoly just to name a few.  Janette Oke is an InScribe member as well and although I did not have the pleasure of meeting her in person, she is one of those well-known, and best-loved Canadian Writers who has certainly inspired my writing!

“(InScribe) started in Alberta in 1980 as Alberta Christian Writers’ Fellowship. In the 1990′s, some members moved out-of-province and wanted to retain their membership. Others from other provinces also asked to join. After prayerful consideration, members voted on September 29, 1996 to expand across Canada, adding “CanadaWide” to our name. Then, in the Spring of 1999 we held a contest for a new name that would better reflect the scope of our membership and purpose statement (see below). The winning name was InScribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship.

Today InScribe has members across the country, including published authors, unpublished beginners, those who write for fun, writers employed as reporters or editors, and many freelancers. We write in almost every genre, including short stories, books, poetry, magazine articles, newspaper columns, technical articles, stories for children and youth, and even fantasy.”  (taken from InScribe’s website: http://www.inscribe.org/ )

Recently on InScribe’s website, some of the very talented writers have been sharing great tips for new and “seasoned” authors alike.  I have copied a few links from the website and I encourage my readers to click on the links below to get some great tips on becoming better writers.  Also go to the InScribe Writer’s Online Blog for even more writing tips and devotions: http://inscribewritersonline.blogspot.ca/

  1. Connecting online with other Christians who write, first through InScribe and now through The Word Guild as well, has made the difference for me. I doubt I’d be writing without the wonderful contacts I’ve made through these groups.
